In my work, I provide a series of techniques which vary from a deep body work, to subtle vibration, exercises, visualizations and practices to help the client reach a point of meditation where the mind disolves away.

Trying to explain each modality to detail is almost impossible, because each is tailored to the client needs and the results are always different. Mentalizing each one can limit the depth of their effects and benefits.

The duration and price of each session varies according to the modalitie and the clients needs.

ZEN SHIATSU

There are different lineages in Shiatsu. Zen Shiatsu is characterized by the meditative state of the therapist, who maintains a relaxed position, allowing her to use her weight and " sink down " in depth, instead of pressing or nearly crushing the client. This penetration is perpendicular, allowing quick access to the energy of the meridian.

The therapist maintains a connectivity of her hands on the client's body, one is active and the other "listens". Hara or abdominal area and back are evaluated looking for deficiency or excess areas and worked by activating or sedating the specific function of each meridian. Zen Shiastsu uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridians and the extensions designated by Shizuto Masunaga.

Its purpose is to balance these areas of excess or lack of energy in the body with different types of pressure, depth, rhythm and resonance. During the evaluation and throughout the session, the therapist identifies the energy situation in the meridians , which have a specific function that may be manifested in our four bodies: physical , mental, emotional, spiritual.

The person is fully clothed, no creams or oils are needed. The whole body is worked, or only specific areas as needed.

Traditionally applied on a futon on the floor, but can be also applied on a massage table or chair

An hour to two hours

TUINA

The tuina is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine that uses massage as a therapeutic medium. The Tuina name first appeared in the Ming Dynasty around the 1300s.

This therapeutic, even external of traditional Chinese medicine, is based on its general principles toning and disperse Xu Shi, stimulate the antipathogenic and eliminate the pathogen, readjust the balance between Yin and Yang and restore harmony of Qi circulation (energy) and Xué (blood).

The therapy involves making hand movements on the body surface, in very specific and concrete areas, or at key points. The therapeutic efficacy of hand movements depend on the following factors:

  • Nature and intensity of the movements.
  • Particularity of the predetermined zones.
  • Points where such movements are applied.

According to the nature and intensity of movement and part or point in which they apply, Tuina Therapeutics has eight methods: heat, tone, clear, evacuate, sweat, harmonize, disperse and remove.

Besides the hands, other instruments can be used:

  • Gua Sha - For the application of this technique an instrument called GUA -SHA PAN is used. The surface of the skin is lubricated with cream or oil, then rubbed in one direction in the area chosen for therapy. This therapy is used not only to cure but to prevent disease. Must be followed by rest and hydratation.

This procedure saved peasants 2000 years ago from the plague and influenza. The knowledge was passed for generations from father to son, not the daughter, because knowledge would have been passed to another clan.

  • Cupping (Suction) - is an ancient form of Chinese medicine in which a partial vacuum is created using cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This vacuum dissipates stagnation of blood and lymph, thereby improving the flow of Qi.
It is recommended for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia and bronchitis. Cupping is also used on the back, neck, shoulder and other musculoskeletal conditions.
Cupping is not advised for skin ulcers or abdominal or sacral regions of pregnant women.

Leaves temporary marks on the skin.
